Network randomly switches to nonexistent ethernet connection on CachyOS

I'm on CachyOS (using dhcpcd) and sometimes the network will randomly switch to a nonexistent ethernet connection (wifi symbol changes to wired connection even though there isn't even one to connect to) or the network symbol will simply disappear entirely. In either case the output of ip addr is identical to normal except for the lack of an entry labeled inet under the interface name (when wifi is turned off, the interface still shows up with only a link/ether entry). Clicking on the status menu and manually reconnecting fixes it, but I keep noticing that there is always a checkmark still disp
