Dell XPS 13 strange power behavior - won't shut down, BSOD upon attempting to hibernate

I have a Dell XPS 9310 2-in-1 laptop running Windows 10. I generally keep it up to date but have been getting BIOS update fail messages occasionally that I haven't been able to fix. It is otherwise functioning as expected. The laptop's battery will drain quite quickly (I usually set it to sleep mode and have it go automatically to sleep after 2 mins of inactivity). If I try to shut it down, it restarts immediately with no prompting. When the battery is low, I will get a low battery warning, and within 2 minutes of getting that warning, the screen flashes a locking message and goes dark. Immedi
