Laptop shuts down a few seconds after booting (not a power issue)

I recently received an old acer aspire 8920G laptop. Processor: Intel centrino Core 2 Duo T8300 2 x 2.4GHz Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GS - 512 MB Memory: 4 GB DDR2 Display: 18.40 inch 16:9, 1920 x 1080 pixel, Full HD Mainboard: Intel PM965 HDD: 320 GB - WDC WD3200BEVT The problem with this device is that it turns off a few seconds after I turn it on, but the timing is not always consistent. Sometimes it reaches windows loading screen, others it turns off almost immediately. At first I thought it was a power issue but the laptop runs both only with a charger and also only with the batt
